Jack here. This is my very first blog and Oh! what I have to talk about! This past weekend we celebrated Independence Day with lots of fun activities. The weekend started Friday morning with a parade downtown. Dad, Mom, Claire, and I sat on the curb waiting for the parade to start and I played with some weeds I found. This is a picture of us waiting for the parade to start:

I really liked watching all of the floats go by. I especially liked that they threw candy at me. Dad even let me have some Smarties and Tootsie Rolls! I thought the little cars were pretty funny and I really liked the horses.

When the parade was over, we all went to MaMa and PaPa Funke's house for swimming and bbq. The pool was a little bit cold, but that didn't stop me and Daddy from getting in. Even Claire put on her swimsuit, but Mommy wouldn't let her go out. She said it was too cold for babies.

Later that night, we all went to watch the big fireworks display in town. I was sick last year and didn't get to see the fireworks. This year, I was really impressed--at least for the first half of the show! I kept saying, "Wow!" And then I got bored and wanted to crawl up on the hood of the car to sit by my cousin Ethan.

On Saturday, Daddy wanted to get out of the house, so we all loaded in the car and went shopping. Mommy and Daddy didn't get anything, but Claire and I got lots of clothes. Too bad they're all for next summer! And then, later that night, I did the unthinkable. I peed in the potty for the very first time! I also got a little on the bathroom floor and rug, but Mommy wasn't too mad. She wanted to take a picture, but Daddy said that that was gross.
I have to get ready for bed now, but I promise to keep everyone updated on the happenings in my life. And Claire's too. Everyone seems pretty interested in her these days. Thanks for reading!

Yo, Jack, good to hear from you and the Sis. Can you believe the Cards lost to the stinkin' Cubs today? What position do you think will suit you best?
Great Aunt Lori
Jack, I love your blog! Brent and I have been thinking about doing one for our family. If we get one up and running, we'll send you the link.

HA! Love that you went pee pee on the potty, good job! Glad your Mommy didn't get too upset at you missing and getting it on the rug! :) Love hearing all about your adventures! :)

What a wonderful Fourth of July! And woo hoo...you are becoming such a big boy going on the potty all by yourself!
ps) I think mommy should have taken the "gross" picture anyway. ;)
Love,
Jessica
Congratulations on your major accomplishment! You are such a big boy, it won’t be long and you won’t need diapers at all! It sounds like you had a very big weekend! I enjoy hearing what you and your family are up to!

So funny. What a great idea! I've added your blog to 'my favorites'!
Wow Jack, that is really great about the potty. When you get a little older, PaPa Funke and Ethan will show you how we go pee pee in the country. (no pictures allowed)
